Rhino Plastics is the sole importer of Envirotuff reflective foil insulations (radiant barriers) in South Africa and the African continent.

Envirotuff is a range of strong, durable and cost effective insulation foil products that protect all residential, commercial and industrial buildings from heat gains and heat losses.

Envirotuff protects against conductive, convectional and radiant heat transfer by reflecting up to 97% of radiant heat from entering the building. During colder months, Envirotuff assists in keeping the heat from exiting the building.

Envirotuff further protects against dust and moisture from entering a building.

Envirotuff has been extensively tested both locally and internationally, ensuring all products meet the local testing requirements and SANS standards.

Rhino Plastics (representing Envirotuff) is a current member of TIPSASA (Thermal Insulation Products & Systems Association SA).

Envirotuff has 4 high quality products within its reflective foil product range.

Envirotuff Foil tape

Foil Tape – woven MPET

2” width, 0.048 x 30m

3” width, 0.076 x 30m

Foil Tape – woven Alum

2” width, 0.048 x 30m

3” width, 0.076 x 30m

High adhesion, strong woven MPET or Aluminium tape, for joining all overlaps of Envirotuff reflective foils.

Residential Installation Method

  1. Envirotuff radiant barrier must be unrolled horizontally across the rafters with the printed aluminium side facing up.
  2. Envirotuff must be overlapped by 150mm at all joins. 150mm overlap markings are printed onto the rolls for ease of use.
  3. Envirotuff radiant barrier must be fixed between the rafters and the battens/purlins.
  4. To ensure maximum performance, an air-gap is required between the Envirotuff radiant barrier and the roof tile/sheeting.
  5. It is suggested that Envirotuff be pulled hand-taut across the rafters. Do not excessively stretch the material.
  6. Envirotuff should not be left exposed to sunlight or wind for long periods of time.

Industrial Installation Method

  1. Straining wire to be installed above the purlins and evenly tensioned. The initial straining wire is to be spaced 75mm away from the gable end, with subsequent spacings at 275mm or 367mm spacings.
  2. Envirotuff radiant barrier must be unrolled vertically across the rafters with the printed aluminium side facing the airgap.
  3. Envirotuff must be overlapped by 150mm at all joins. 150mm overlap markings are printed onto the rolls for ease of use.
  4. It is suggested that Envirotuff be pulled hand-taut across the rafters. Do not excessively stretch the material.
  5. Envirotuff should not be left exposed to sunlight or wind for long periods of time.
