Rhino group for sustainable business and living
In order to help its clients to develop and maintain sustainable businesses and lifestyles, the Rhino Group has created two specialist divisions – “Food-water-energy” and “Greenbuilding Solutions”.
Companies within these divisions are headed by South Africa’s top experts in their fields, who source leading technologies from around the world and locally.
Falling under the “Food-water-energy” banner are Rhino AgriVantage (food); Rhino Water Technologies (water); and Rhino Energy Solutions (energy).

Living the vision
Rhino’s own offices, warehouses and factories are used to showcase greenbuilding solutions, energy saving & solar power generation and water recycling technologies.
Retrofitting has included the installation of natural light harvesting and LED lights, where pay-back was found to be within eight months.
Rhino will also be building a showcase energy and water self-sufficient house at the new Crossways Farm Village development outside Port Elizabeth.
Within the Group there is also Ecola Plastics, one of SA’s largest privately owned waste plastic recyclers, and has been in operation for more than 30 years.
The companies
Rhino AgriVantage – helps farmers to maximise yields and minimise inputs through sustainable practices using a full range of nutrient solutions. Rhino AgriVantage support starts with soil and water analysis, in order to ensure the optimal use of nutrients.
Rhino Water Technologies – along with associates, the division has successfully delivered more than 2 000 installations throughout Southern Africa to treat and recycle waste water. The company also provides ozone solutions for water & air sterilisation. Rhino Water Technologies can be found in households, lodges, mines, paper mills, at the All Africa Games site in Maputo, the Cradle of Humankind, hotels, businesses, and more.
Rhino Energy Solutions – The company is headed up by Dr Stuart Fredman, acknowledged as one of SA’s leading renewable energy exponents. It has installed photovoltaic systems in commercial premises, schools, lodges, residential homes and complexes, and also consults to solar park developers. The approach is fundamentally solutions centric, with only proven and project-appropriate technology being utilized.
Rhino Plastics – offers an extensive range of greenbuilding solutions, including natural light harvesting, LED lights, roofing insulation, double glazing, under floor heating, resource efficient showerheads, and heat pumps. Expertise is drawn from Rhino Energy Solutions and Rhino Water Technologies where needed. Rhino Plastics works closely with a number of leading developers and their architects to help them meet the requirements of the new greenbuilding regulations SANS 10400 XA.

As an Eskom-accredited Energy Supply Company, Rhino helps with the process of applying for Eskom rebates based on the energy saving from an installation.
