Geyser blankets
A geyser can typically consume, depending on how many people are living in a house, between 30% & 50% of a households’ electricity usage. Such costs will become even more significant as electricity charges continue to increase dramatically. A proper geyser blankets has been found to save up to 27% of a geyser’s electricity consumption.
Research done at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology found, however, that for a geyser blanket to actually be effective, it needs to meet certain criteria, as follows:
- Be properly fitted
- MUST also insulate 1m of the inlet pipe and 2m’s of the outlet pipe
- And be made from quality insulation material
Many products being touted as geyser blankets do meet all such criteria. We have chosen to represent a product that meets all such criteria and as such is Eskom and SABS approved.
It does include insulation of 1m and 2m’s of inlet and outlet pipes respectively and has been designed to be very easy to install. Importantly, the insulation material that is used was found by the University of Western Australia to have up to 96% heat reflective properties, with the nearest competitor scoring around 50%. The product is expected to last 10 years and over this time will pay for itself over and over many times indeed.
